Raja Ampat film to screen at International Maritime Film Festival

September 28, 2024

$10

We’re excited to announce that The Underwater Treasurers of Raja Ampat, a short film Seacology produced, will have its first public screening at this year’s International Maritime Film Festival in Bucksport, Maine!

Directed by longtime Seacology collaborator Stefan Ruenzel, the film tells the story of a remote Indonesian community’s efforts to protect the marine ecosystems of Raja Ampat, one of the world’s greatest biodiversity hotspots. It introduces us to Memet, a young boy who attends the Seacology-funded school in Fafanlap Village, and his uncle who steadfastly works to guard the marine reserve established by our project.

The film will screen in Bucksport on Saturday, September 28, the final day of the three day festival, and then will be available on-demand throughout October. Visit the festival’s website for more details and for the full screening schedule.
