Community benefit: Tahitian Marae Restoration Project

Date Approved: 01.1998

Seacology funded the expenses for five Hawaiian stonemasons to travel to Tahiti for a training and cultural exchange. These masons, who have been working since May 1998 on the restoration of the Pi’ilanihale Heiau (sacred temple) on the island of Maui, participated in a workshop with Tahitian stonemasons to learn skills and work on some of Tahiti’s most sacred sites (marae).
