The Turks & Caicos Islands consist of the larger Caicos Islands and smaller Turks Islands, two groups of tropical islands in the West Indies. They are known primarily for tourism. The Turks and Caicos Reef Fund works to help preserve and protect the marine environment of the “Beautiful by Nature” Turks and Caicos Islands. The unique environment draws so many visitors to these islands that is critical to the survival of the islands themselves.
More and more dive boats are visiting the waters off the islands. As a result, there is a critical need to replace missing or inadequate moorings, such as those anchored by chains wrapped around coral heads. Seacology is funding the replacement of inadequate moorings, and the installation of new ones, at various sites around the island.
