Seacology Expedition to Raja Ampat, Indonesia
September 22-30, 2026
Join Seacology for a week in the world’s center of marine biodiversity. Explore reefs teeming with life, unwind while taking in tropical sunsets, and see up-close how we’re working to protect this island paradise.
Breathtaking Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat should be at the top of every diver and snorkeler’s list of places to experience. Long recognized by marine scientists as one of greatest centers of ocean biodiversity in the world, this remote region of Indonesia is home to hundreds of small islands with stunning vistas and welcoming people.
Seacology invites you to join us for an unforgettable week in the heart of the Coral Triangle.
Our accommodations
Operated in close partnership with the nonprofit Misool Foundation, the Misool Eco Resort combines unrivaled comfort, privacy, and hospitality with a deep commitment to environmental stewardship. The exclusive 40-capacity property lies on a private island 20km from the nearest town, but its location offers convenient access to some of the world’s most incredible dive sites in an expansive no-take marine reserve that Seacology has helped to protect.
Drift off to the sound of gentle waves in the resort’s luxurious water cottages, which can accommodate two guests, or the slightly larger villas, which have room for three. All rooms are built from reclaimed tropical lumber and sit on sturdy stilts directly over Misool’s house reef or North Lagoon.

Wonder beneath the waves
You won’t have to go far to experience some of the best of Raja Ampat’s diving and snorkeling. Our resort’s house reef is easily accessible from the shore—simply wade in and you’ll immediately be immersed in a kaleidoscope of color. Vibrant soft and hard corals provide a foundation for a thriving marine environment that is home to elusive pygmy seahorses, curious reef sharks, radiant mandarinfish, and graceful sea turtles, among many other tropical species.
Should you wish to venture farther out, the resort’s dive center provides all you need to explore myriad world-class dive sites, all within an hour of the property.
The resort offers several dive and snorkel packages ranging from $390 for five guided dives to $1,800 for the full week with up to four daily dives.
We ask that guests who wish to rent equipment make arrangements with the dive center in advance.
Conservation in action
For 20 years, we have worked with local communities in Raja Ampat to protect fragile coral reefs, rainforest, and other threatened island ecosystems. On our visit, we will meet with our project partners from Gamta and Magei Villages, where Seacology funded a new kindergarten for the children of both communities. In exchange for this investment, our local partners have recommitted to the protection of a sprawling 300,000-acre marine reserve established by the Misool Foundation, which Seacology has supported since 2011.
Our group will meet with parents and teachers who are utilizing the new school, and rangers who work diligently to protect the marine reserve.
