2020 Seacology Prize Ceremony
October 1, 2020
On his native Wasini Island, Omar Abdallah Juma brought together skeptical members of the fishing community, government institutions, NGOs, and other stakeholders to create a successful marine reserve. His efforts provided the blueprint for other locally managed protected areas along the Kenyan coast, promoting sustainable fisheries and helping to preserve the area’s threatened biodiversity.
We will honor Juma’s achievements and present him with the award in our first fully online Seacology Prize Ceremony on Thursday, October 1. You can learn more about this year’s inspiring winner and RSVP at the link below. We hope you’ll attend, and encourage you to share the link and invite others.
