We’re Hiring: Greece Field Representative

July 24, 2025

Seacology is an award-winning nonprofit organization devoted solely to the preservation of island environments and cultures. Seacology is based in the United States, but we work closely with island communities in more than 70 countries to protect terrestrial and marine ecosystems. We seek win-win situations, in which island communities both protect their environment and receive a tangible benefit. Our field representatives play an essential role in our work.

Job Description

Seacology field representatives work part-time on projects in their regions. Our Greece field representative will be responsible for monitoring the Seacology-funded Greek Islands Seagrass Alliance (GISA), with duties to include:

  • Acting as a liaison between Seacology and GISA staff
  • Monitor progress of the GISA
  • Preparing GISA program updates for twice-yearly meetings of Seacology’s board of directors
  • Organizing occasional trips to Greece by Seacology staff, board members, and donors
  • Assisting Seacology staff in GISA fundraising efforts
  • Representing Seacology with news media in the region
  • Identifying potential Seacology Prize recipients and researching their nominations

Requirements

To apply for this position, you must:

  • Live in Greece
  • Speak and write both English and Greek fluently
  • Have extensive knowledge of the country’s terrestrial and marine environments
  • Have contacts with environmental organizations and community groups in Greece
  • Understand island cultures
  • Have excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Be able to travel throughout the country to visit GISA activity locations
  • Have reliable access to email

Compensation

Compensation is USD $5,200 a year for very part-time work. Field representatives are independent contractors, not employees. Seacology does not provide office space, but does provide reimbursement for Seacology-related expenses.

To apply, please send a cover letter, résumé, and contact information for three references to:
