Our partners on Montecristo Island in El Salvador worked hard for this day.

After carefully protecting their eggs for months, the leaders of Asociación Mangle and many residents of the island of all ages have released more than 92,000 baby sea turtles into the ocean. The eggs were incubated in a new hatchery funded by Seacology in 2022. We’ve since expanded our partnership with Asociación Mangle and the local community, improving the facility and helping raise awareness about these fascinating, endangered creatures and the threats they face.
