Travelers visited the village of Tiga Bundu, in the mountains of Sabah State, where the community is protecting forest and developing nature-based tourism. The villagers explained how important the forest is to the community and how eco-tourism lets them resist outside pressure to exploit it. Then it was off for a stay at a fabulous eco-lodge, with daily wildlife-spotting from the famous Kingabatangan River, led by very knowledgeable guides. Travelers saw magnificent hornbills, orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and Borneo’s own pygmy elephants!
