Seacology director interviews Cook Islands Prime Minister Henry Puna

January 8, 2020

Environmental issues were the focus of a discussion with Henry Puna, Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, the South Pacific country that recently created the largest marine protected area in the world, Marae Moana. Seacology Executive Director Duane Silverstein moderated the discussion on January 8, at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco. He and the prime minister also touched on the Cook Islands’ recent recognition by the OECD as a developed nation and the country’s strategy for dealing with the climate crisis.

Seacology has six projects in the Cook Islands, including our most recent at Mangaia.

You can listen to the audio recording of the event at the Commonwealth Club’s website.
