In March 2001, fourteen people took part in an expedition to visit Seacology projects in Fiji. The group was joined by Doug McConnell and the crew of the popular San Francisco television show Bay Area Backroads, who were filming a program on Seacology's successful Fiji projects. The group visited Nadogo Village, where Seacology has funded badly-needed village improvements in exchange for the protection of a pristine 2,000-acre rainforest. Expedition members were feted in true Fijian style with a kava ceremony, feast and dancing. |

Seacology delegation member D.D. Felton helps to lay the foundation of the Waisomo Village Community Center during the 2001 Seacology expedition. Seacology provided the village with this community center and a boat in exchange for the village's decision to establish a no-fishing zone on their ancestral reef to allow marine life to replenish. |
