TONGA, Vava'u Island - July 1999
Construct mooring buoys

The ocean surrounding Vava'u is one of the premier yachting areas in the entire South Pacific. Constant dropping of anchors is taking its toll on the area's coral reefs. This grant has enabled volunteers to construct permanent mooring buoys, thereby eliminating the need to drop anchors on the reef.

UPDATE November 2003 - The two moorings have been constructed and installed.
