Tafua Rainforest Conservation Center
The conservation organization on the Western Samoan island of Savai'i --Fa'asao Savai'i-- has, together with the chiefs and orators of the Tafua village, started to build a conservation center, with financial support from Seacology Foundation. The center, located at the entrance of the Tafua Peninsula Preserve, will function as a place where visitors and tourists can obtain information about the preserves on Savai'i and as a meeting place for the Samoan conservationists.
Around the center, Fa'asao Savai'i is planning to plant a garden with native medicinal plants and provide visitors with information on the long and rich Samoan ethnobotanical tradition. Fa'asao Savai'i and Tafua village are proud of their new center and are hoping for a resurgence in visitors to the preserves both at Tafua and Falealupo.
