Renowned Botanist, Marine Biologists Join Seacology Scientific Advisory Board

Seacology is pleased to announce the additions of botanist Robert Jansen, Ph.D., marine biologist John McCosker, Ph.D. and marine biologist John C. Ogden, Ph.D. to our scientific advisory board.

Dr. Jansen is the chair of integrative biology at the University of Texas at Austin. He is an authority on the origin and evolution of oceanic island plants. This is extremely important, as one third of the endangered plants in the world occur on volcanic islands. His articles have been published in Science Magazine and a wide range of scientific journals.

Dr. McCosker became senior scientist and the first occupant of the Research Chair of Aquatic Biology at the California Academy of Sciences in 1994. Dr. McCosker is one of the world's leading authorities on great white sharks. His work has been featured on BBC and NOVA television programs. He is also a widely recognized expert on the Galapagos Islands.

Dr. Ogden is director of the Florida Institute of Oceanography and professor of biology at the University of South Florida. He began his continuing fieldwork on global coral reefs and associated ecosystems after building the West Indies Laboratory in St. Croix, the Virgin Islands, where he was director from 1981-1988.

Seacology is honored to welcome Dr. Jansen, Dr. McCosker and Dr. Ogden to the scientific advisory board.
